When your hair has become especially dry, frizzy, and unmanageable, it may be time to modify your hair care regimen. Having dry frizzy hair is usually a result of heat damage or a lack of moisture. If you live in a very dry climate or don’t drink enough water, your hair will definitely show it. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to restore your hair to a more lustrous state.
Here are five tips for getting rid of that dry frizzy hair:
#1: Deep condition with olive oil once a week. Olive oil makes for a great deep conditioning treatment and will leave your hair soft and shiny within minutes. Just apply a generous amount of olive oil to dry hair, let it settle into your scalp for at least 15 minutes, then rinse out. Your hair will be soft, shiny, and more manageable.
#2: Condition with coconut oil. Distressed strands will appreciate a conditioning treatment of pure coconut oil. Coconut oil contains ingredients that will infuse moisture back into your hair to leave it soft and silky.
#3: Treat damaged hair with argan oil. Argan oil is a great restorative treatment for scorched strands or very dry ends. You can apply a small amount of this oil onto your hair at night to restore moisture and soften the hair. You’ll notice a difference immediately and can continue using this oil for several days.
#4: Don’t overuse heated styling tools. Get out of the habit of using a flat iron on your hair regularly or using hot curling irons and other heated styling tools. These do damage your hair and can make it more vulnerable to breakage and split ends. Always use a heat protectant spray before using any of these styling tools to limit the frizz and excessive damage to your hair.
#5: Use the right conditioner. Make sure your conditioner isn’t loaded with chemicals and ingredients that your strands don’t really need. Use a natural conditioner when possible, and make sure you use it every single time you shampoo so that you can infuse your hair with moisture at just the right time. Remember that your conditioner needs to stay in your hair for at least five to seven minutes for hair o benefit from the treatment.
